RIVER FISHING

Glacier Bay National Park and the Icy Strait offer some of the best fishing in Alaska. When it comes to river fishing, located a mere 8 miles from Gustavus guests have found the Bartlett Cove a prime place to river fish. We'll help you plan your hike due to such a strong tidal influence with the river. A two mile hike to the fishing holes to find: Sockeye, and Cojo salmon, Steelhead, and Dolly Varden. Be sure to bring your camera along the way, many have returned with stories of grizzlies and black bears, moose, and bald eagles.

Large Halibut PictureGustavus is central to several other prestine river fishing streams including, Mud Bay, and Excursion Inlet. Yet these streams can only be reached by boat.

We here at the Chinook can provide a normal spin cast reel to our guests yet we have found to the serious fly fisherman, someone elses pole just doesn't feel right. If you live and die for the fly, then you will need to bring your own gear.

"Having worked as a charter boat captain in some of the worlds hottest fishing destinations, I can tell that Gustavus is not to be missed!   The fun and excitement never stop! Something is always happening (or about to) and we like to keep it that way."
